Alliances

How alliances work in ECON Galaxy: founding, applying, leadership, shared sensors and protection from friendly fire.

In a space browser game nobody survives long alone. Alliances let commanders band together: members cannot attack each other, they share their sensor picture of the galaxy, and the alliance tag shows everyone who belongs together. Everything starts on the Alliances page.

Founding an alliance

Any commander who is not yet a member can found an alliance. You need three things:

  • A name with 3 to 40 characters.
  • A tag with 2 to 5 letters or digits. It is always stored in capitals, for example IRON.
  • An optional description of up to 1,000 characters.

Name and tag must be unique, regardless of upper or lower case. As the founder you are the first member, and founding your first alliance is recorded as a milestone. If you had an open application elsewhere, it is dropped.

Applying and joining

The Alliances page lists every alliance with its tag, member count and points, sorted by points. Open an alliance to see its description, its members with their home systems and the alliance's total points.

  • You can belong to only one alliance and have one open application at a time.
  • To apply somewhere else, first withdraw your application or leave your current alliance.
  • The founder decides about every application. Once you are accepted, you are a full member. Joining your first alliance counts as a milestone too.

There is no member limit.

Leadership

Every alliance has exactly one founder, who manages the alliance:

  • accepts or rejects applications,
  • removes members,
  • hands over leadership to another member.

Regular members can leave at any time. The founder can only leave once nobody else is left, so hand over leadership first. When the last member leaves, the alliance is dissolved. If a founder deletes the account, leadership passes to the longest-standing member.

What members share

Being allied has concrete effects in the game:

  • No friendly fire. Members cannot attack or spy on each other. The system view does not even offer these missions, and an attack or probe that is already flying turns around if its target joins the alliance in the meantime.
  • Shared sensors. Every allied colony works as a sensor station for you, with the ally's own Deep Scan range. You spot fleets near your allies, not only near your own planets.
  • Known allied fleets. Allied fleets in sensor range show their owner and mission. Foreign fleets seen by your allies' sensors stay unknown fleets.
  • Transports between members are possible, so you can support each other with resources.

The alliance tag appears next to members' names, for example in the system view and in the rankings. The alliance points are the sum of the points of all members.

Tips

  • Look for an alliance with members close to your home system. Shared sensors are most useful when your colonies are near each other.
  • Pick a short, memorable tag. It is what other commanders see next to your name.
  • As a founder, hand over leadership before you go inactive, so your alliance keeps working.
  • Coordinate with allies before claiming systems. See System claims.
