What is ECON?

ECON is an advanced artificial intelligence system designed to monitor, regulate, and stabilize the galactic economy. Created after the Economic Collapse of 2847, ECON was humanity's answer to the chaos of unregulated interstellar trade.

How It Works

ECON monitors all economic activity in civilized space:

Trade transactions between stations
Resource extraction and production
Corporate activities and growth
Market manipulation attempts
Illegal commerce (smuggling, black markets)

When ECON detects activity that threatens economic stability, it can:

Issue warnings
Impose fines
Restrict trading privileges
Freeze corporate assets
In extreme cases, authorize military intervention

Compliance vs. Rebellion

Every corporation has a Compliance Rating with ECON. High compliance means:

Lower taxes and fees
Access to more markets
Better financing rates
Government contracts

But compliance comes at a cost. ECON's regulations limit:

How fast you can grow
What technologies you can develop
Where you can operate
What goods you can trade

Some corporations choose to operate outside ECON's rules. The black market, smuggling operations, and frontier territories offer freedom from regulation - at the risk of ECON's attention.

ECON's influence varies by region:

High-Sec	Full monitoring, strict enforcement
Mid-Sec	Regular patrols, standard rules
Low-Sec	Minimal oversight, limited protection
Null-Sec	No ECON presence, lawless space

The Future

As your corporation grows, you'll have to decide: Work within the system, or against it? ECON sees everything in its domain - but its domain has limits.
